How we do what we do

Have you ever wondered how television companies decide which programmes to put on the air, or which programmes people are watching and which they aren’t? The most important way is by asking a selection of households to take part in the official UK television audience measurement panel. Here you can find out more about what is involved in joining and what some of the benefits are.

Barb Audiences Ltd (Barb) provides the UK TV and advertising industry with viewing figures for television channels, video-on-demand services and video-sharing platforms. Barb is owned by some of the big names in television including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky. Visit www.barb.co.uk for more information.

Kantar is the research company that has been asked by Barb to undertake TV audience measurement. Kantar is one of the leading market research groups. Around the world, we provide viewing information in over 30 countries. Visit www.kantar.com for more information.
